CAROLINE JEWELL

community coordinator

Caroline Jewell is an aspiring performing artist with a passion for dance education and community development. She is currently working to obtain her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance Performance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. While at the conservatory she has been able to explore dance training, performance, research and teaching alike. Specifically her interests lie within contemporary and ballet performance, dance research regarding childhood development, and dance instruction for all ages and levels. After graduating in the spring of 2021, Jewell not only hopes to find performance work, but also hopes to continue to share her knowledge of dance through her research and teaching experiences. Her curiosity for the dance field is vast and she aims to use that to create accessible dance opportunities for members of her community..
As the Community Coordinator for OneScape, I believe in serving the artists in process and the members of the community to make the whole experience accessible. As performance and sharing our creations with audiences is so much of what we do, I think my role is to consider the ways in which we can involve fellow community members in the greater process. The question I ask myself is “how can we reach and inspire people with dance?”. My hope is to answer that question in as many facets as I can to serve the community around us. Whether it is creating opportunities for experiential dance practices, creative cultivation with the community, or through performance, I am eager to bring what our collaborators and artists have to say to light in a way that the community can hear it, experience it, and live it.
A statement from Caroline:
"OneScape is bringing all of the elements of dance that I love together with collaboration being the center of what we do. I think of OneScape as a collaboration before, during, and beyond the creative process because it really considers the whole. Everyone involved, collaborators, artists, performers, and community members alike are immersed in dance discovery together.."
